Volunteer Liz Harman dressed as a Newlyn Fishwife at the Newlyn Archive Day, part of the Seaside Voices Roadshow. Children visiting her stand were invited to dress as fish boys and girls, and here Connah Sanson is shown dressed as a fish boy.

Winter
Hymns rouse the chapels -
forts of faith. Outside, kids text.
I-pods fake icons.
Spring
Buccas in snug pubs:
Sea is a fickle lover.
Beer glasses sweat tears.
Summer
Gulls bovver the boats.
Waters crest in champagne foam -
toast fishermen’s haul.
Autumn
Spectral waves at night.
White cottages petrify
tidemarks of lost times.

Welcome to the Newlyn Seaside Voices project.
This is a community led project for people to tell us what is good and bad about Newlyn, share your memories of Newlyn and your hopes for the future.
We will be updating the site regularly so please do keep coming back and checking on what we are doing and feel free to contact us and contribute to the project.
